About Kv Rihandnagar, Varanasi

Idea of encouraging the growth of secondary schools with a common syllabus and medium of instruction for the benefit of the children of central govt. employees liable to frequent transfers was mooted by the second central pay commission. Accordingly, in 1962; the govt. of India approved the scheme of Kendriya Vidyalayas to cater to the educational needs of the children of central govt. employees including defence personnel and floating population liable to frequent transfers throughout the country from one language area to the other.

The ‘Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’, an autonomous body under ministry of HRD, Deptt of Education, Govt. of India on 15th December 1965, runs the Kendriya Vidyalayas. At present the total strength of Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country has risen to 1094 while three Vidyalayas are functioning abroad at Kathmandu (Nepal), Moscow (Russia) and Tehran (Iran).

KV Rihand Nagar is a project school under the project NTPC Rihand Nagar. It is in NTPC township. This school is approx. 150km from Robertsganj, and 210km from Varanasi. Vidyalaya is well equipped with Infrastructure like science lab, computer lab, Language Lab etc. It was established in the year 1984. Vidyalaya has two section in each class and in higher secondary there is one section in commerce stream and one section in science stream.
